Windsor Downtown Mission and Food Bank
On Saturday November 29th the '04 Windsor Junior Spitfires were given the tremendous opportunity of volunteering their efforts towards a great cause as the team headed to the Windsor Downtown Mission and Food Bank.
Players were put to work performing many job duties which included stocking shelves, moving clothing, sorting playing cards and handing out care packages to the residents in attendance. Throughout the morning the boys were very focused on their responsibilities and it became apparent that not only were the players helping out some of those less fortunate...but at the same time the residents were helping the boys to understand that some of the opportunities they have been given should never be taken for granted. Some great conversations were had and in the end it was a very positive experience infused with some key life lessons for these young guys. The team was also able to put together a small food donation and help fill up the shelves at the much needed Food Bank of Windsor.
I don't think we could be prouder of these fine young men for taking the time to help out some of those in need during the Holiday Season. The display of compassion was truly inspiring!
