The gift of giving
So it’s getting cold fast.I know money is tight this time of year and I know we all have to buy gifts for our children and family but imagine being homeless in this weather (or ever..).
I made a call to Street Help Windsor to find out what they're in need of, the grateful lady suggested the following:
• Back Packs
• Sleeping bags
• XLG Gloves, mitts, socks, hoodies (xlg bc of layering in cold weather)
• Hand/Feet warmers
• Winter coats
• Warm clothes * Unisex teenage and older
*Playing AAA hockey is a privilege for our kids. Living in a warm home with brand new clothes and hot food on the table is something we all take for granted. Our city is in a bad state right now with the rise in drugs and violence. And the on going problem of mental illness which leads to the abundance homeless people. Street Help serves an average of 200 people a day! That’s just one organization in the city, think of that for a minute!! I think it would be a great gift if the team could rally together and help this organization out. I’m hoping to set up a “donation table” at our next few home games to take in donations from friends and family! So please spread the word. They are in need!!! When I have all of the donations, the coaches will pick a few boys and we can deliver it to Street Help together.
