Tournament Honoree Announced
Windsor AAA Zone & Jr Spitfires are honored to have Sylvain Lessard as this year’s tournament honoree.

Lessard1.jpgSylvain Lessard or “Sly” as he was known by many of his hockey friends and teammates passed away tragically in the fall of 2023 in a car accident. Sly was only 20 years old. His passing affected many former players from our Jr Spitfires organization as he was a cherished teammate and member of the local Jr hockey community having played for the Leamington Flyers, Wheatly Omstead Sharks, and the Lakeshore Canadiens. His high le

vel of dedication to the game was matched by his kind heart, strong work ethic, and love for the outdoors. Sly was an avid kayaker, fisherman, and loved playing golf. He graduated from L’Essor High School and went on to completed a diploma in the Powerline Technician program at St. Clair College in Chatham. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Windsor Power & Light a job of which he truly enjoyed.

From those who knew him best;

“Sly was more than a friend to us—he was a brother. His kind soul and courageous spirit lifted up everyone around him. He loved working with his hands, building things, and putting his brilliant work ethic into everything he did. Sly will always be remembered for the way he cared for others by always putting people before himself. He had a gift for turning tough moments into better ones and could bring a smile to your face no matter the situation. We love you and miss you.”

-Patrick McManus, Kale Couvillon, Gabe Piccolo

Our heartfelt condolence goes out to his family, friends and all who knew him.
