We’re proud to share a major milestone in the career of Windsor Jr. Spitfires alumnus Konnor Smith, who has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, set to begin in the 2025–26 season.
Before the contract officially kicks in, Konnor will join the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the 2024–25 season.
Konnor had a standout season in the OHL, notching 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 40 games split between Brampton and Owen Sound. He led all Brampton defensemen in goals and posted a strong +14 rating, adding 3 points in 6 playoff games.
Across his OHL career, Konnor totaled 70 points in 219 games, with stops in Peterborough, Owen Sound, and Brampton. He played a key role in Peterborough’s 2022–23 OHL Championship run, contributing in 23 playoff games and appearing in the 2023 Memorial Cup.
Originally selected by Anaheim in the 4th round (97th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft, Konnor’s blend of size (6’6”, 216 lbs), physical presence, and leadership has made him one to watch. Off the ice, he was also nominated for the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy as the OHL’s Humanitarian of the Year in 2021–22.
From Windsor roots to NHL dreams—congratulations, Konnor!
