Reid Hayes Named 2025 Recipient of the Mickey Renaud Award
The Windsor Jr. Spitfires are proud to announce that Reid Hayes has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Mickey Renaud Award.

This annual award is presented to a player from the Minor Midget (U16) team, chosen by the coaching staff, who best embodies the qualities that defined former Windsor Spitfires captain Mickey Renaud — leadership, team dedication, and sportsmanship.

Reid, recently drafted in the third round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection by the Ottawa 67’s, has consistently demonstrated these traits throughout the season. His commitment to his teammates, his positive presence in the dressing room, and his dedication to the game set him apart as a role model for others.

The award pays tribute to Mickey Renaud, who served as captain of the Windsor Spitfires during the 2007-08 season. Mickey was known as the heartbeat of the team — a leader who inspired through his relentless work ethic, his popularity among teammates and fans, and his active involvement in the community. His life was tragically cut short on February 18, 2008, when he passed away suddenly from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In his memory, the Spitfires retired his number 18, raising his banner to the rafters later that year.

Reid’s recognition as the 2025 recipient of the Mickey Renaud Award ensures that Mickey’s legacy continues to live on through young players who carry forward his spirit of leadership and love for the game.

Congratulations, Reid!
