Frank Furdero returns to the Windsor Jr. Spitfires AAA organization to lead the U12 AAA team for the 2026-27 season. Following a landmark year at the U11 AAA level, Frank continues his work with the 2015 birth year, bringing a wealth of elite experience and a proven track record of rapid player development.
Elite Playing Background
Originally from Livonia, Michigan, Frank’s hockey journey began in the Detroit AAA circuit with powerhouse programs like Little Caesars and Compuware. His talent led him to the NAHL, where he captured a Junior A National Championship with the Compuware Ambassadors in 2002. After earning an NCAA Division I scholarship, Frank pursued a five-season professional career in the minor leagues, highlighted by an SPHL Championship win with the Knoxville Ice Bears in 2009.
A Legacy of Coaching Excellence & Proven Results
Since retiring from professional play in 2011, Frank has amassed over 15 years of Tier 1 coaching experience. His resume includes impactful tenures at Belle Tire, Victory Honda, and a six-year stretch at Little Caesars. He has led teams across various age groups—including 16U and 19U girls’ programs—capturing five State Championships.
Most recently, Frank demonstrated his ability to transform a program’s culture and competitiveness. Under his leadership, the team transitioned from a 7-40-2 record to a powerhouse 21-18-10 regular season, finishing as the highest-ranked team in the organization and breaking into the Top 20 in Ontario.
Development-First Philosophy
Skill development is the heartbeat of Frank’s approach. He refined his coaching craft at the TPH Hockey Academy under the mentorship of University of Michigan Head Coach Brandon Naurato and served as the Director of Player Development at Detroit Hockey Academy alongside NHL veteran Manny Legace.
In 2017, he launched Furdero’s Elite Hockey Training (FEHT), a premier hockey academy in Plymouth, Michigan. Through FEHT, Frank has trained high-level talent, including NHL star Alex DeBrincat, along with numerous OHL, collegiate, and professional players.
The Spitfire Standard
Frank is known for fostering a high-energy, disciplined environment where skating and edge work are top priorities. By treating every athlete as an individual, he ensures players are not only technically sound but also mentally prepared for the next level of competition. As he leads the U12 AAA squad, Frank remains dedicated to building a culture of resilience, growth, and a lifelong love for the game within the Windsor community.
