Mark Turner’s journey is an inspiring testament to his commitment and expertise in the game of hockey. Hailing from Windsor, his early experiences in minor hockey laid the foundation for an impressive and enduring career. Drafted into the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Mark embarked on a 16-year professional playing career that spanned across North America and England.
Following his playing career, Mark seamlessly transitioned into coaching, where his
passion for the sport remained unwavering. He began as an assistant coach and video
analyst with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. During this tenure, the team achieved
remarkable success, capturing back-to-back OHL Championships and consecutive
Memorial Cup titles—an accomplishment that underscored Mark’s strategic insight and
coaching wisdom.
Mark’s dedication to player development is evident through his certification as a High-
Performance Coach and his involvement in the Hockey Canada Excellence Program
U15 in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025. He has also served as a Player Development
Coach with Prospects Athletics, where he continues to mentor and elevate young
athletes in the region.
In recognition of his leadership and impact, Mark was named Coach of the Year in 2025
for the Windsor Jr Spitfires AAA. Most recently, in 2026, he received one of the highest
honors of his professional career with his induction into the ECHL Hall of Fame.
From his beginnings in minor hockey in Windsor to a distinguished career as a
professional player, accomplished coach, and respected mentor, Mark Turner’s journey
continues to inspire the next generation of athletes he guides today.
