OHL Midget Draft Selections
Congratulations to the Midget Major Spitfires who were selected in the 2017 Under 18 Priority Selection.
This event is really going to bring greater awareness to the high level of talent we have at the Midget AAA level here in Ontario,” said OHL Senior Director of Hockey Development and Special Events Joe Birch. “In the long term our hope is that this initiative will not only bring accomplished players to the Ontario Hockey League, but will also improve the development of players, goaltenders, coaches and the game as a whole province-wide.”

Selected in the first round with the second pick overall was goalie James Walker by the Guelph Storm.  Also selected in the first round and fifth overall to the Niagara Ice Dogs was defence man Abdul Abouzeeni.
The remaining three rounds found fellow Jr Spitfires selected by the following teams:

Round 2, 24th overall Evan Ferguson
Round 2, 36th overall Gianluca Pizzuto
Round 3, 57th overall Tyler Beneteau

Congratulations and good luck at your Junior Camps.

Great job by Coach Kyle Makaric and staff this year, as well as all the previous coaches and helpers that have assisted in the development and growth of these players.

Well done.
