At the beginning of the season, the U12 coaching staff discussed the idea of "giving back to our communities" with the players. "Take A Shot Hockey", a "learn to play hockey" program that provides free access, opportunity and equipment for youth in the Windsor Essex area, was chosen to be the beneficiary of our team's fundraising activities.
Coach Zivanov challenged the players to independently use their own ideas to fundraise, so players did odd jobs - raking leaves, cleaning eavestroughs, taking out garbage for elderly neighbors and clearing driveways of snow. One of our players even asked for donations instead of gifts for his birthday! On Monday January 30, 2023 the U12 team was proud to present a cheque for $1,000.00 to the Director of "Take A Shot Hockey", Coach Steve Pronger.
