COMPUWARE HONEYBAKED INVITE SILVER CHAMPIONS!!
What a great weekend.

The 2006 Atom Major team set out to it's first tournament of the year this past weekend. After starting out with a loss to Compuware in the opening game the kids kicked it into gear and came out with a tie with Victory Honda in game 2.

Game 3 was different story as the kids took on an "elite" group of kids from Chicago. The team was no match for this carefully selected Team Illinois and took another loss. But playing against some of those types of teams is always exciting and gives the kids a little extra push.

The first 3 games would end the round robin play and now we have seeded in the silver division for semi finals. The team would face Little Caesars. We didn't know what to expect because Little Caesars just beat and shutout Honeybaked which is one of the top teams in the area. The kids came out playing so hard though they were able beat Little Caesars and advance to the championship game.

In the championship game we would get our second shot at Compuware. The game started with Compuware scoring the first goal but that didn't stop the kids. They battle harder than I have ever seen them before and with the game tied in the third period 4-4 the kids got the go ahead goal and added an empty netter to win the game taking home the championship.

It was a really great way to start the season. We got some good hockey and team bonding in.

Big shout out to the coaching staff for getting the kids to play to their full potential which is what won us the championship.
