MEET THE CREW - U11 - Frank Furdero
Frank Ryan Furdero, originally from Livonia, Michigan, brings a rich and passionate hockey background to the U11 AAA team. His journey in the game began at a young age, playing AAA in the Detroit area for elite programs such as Little Caesars and Compuware. His talent and dedication led him to the NAHL, where he played for the Compuware Ambassadors and captured a Junior A National Championship in 2002.

Frank’s promising career earned him a full NCAA Division I scholarship. However, due to eligibility setbacks, he took a four-year hiatus from the sport. In 2006, fueled by his deep love for the game, he returned to pursue professional hockey. Over the next five seasons, he competed in the minor leagues, highlighted by a championship win with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL in 2009.

Following his retirement in 2011, Frank transitioned seamlessly into coaching — a move that would define the next chapter of his hockey life. He began his coaching career with Belle Tire as the Head Coach of the 2003 age group, then spent six impactful years at Little Caesars, where he worked primarily with the 2006 team, as well as the 2003 and 2005 groups. His coaching scope also included leading the 16U and 19U girls’ teams at Little Caesars for three seasons.

Frank later joined Victory Honda, where he spent five seasons as Head Coach of the 2010, 2013, and 2009 age groups. In total, he has amassed 14 years of Tier 1 coaching experience, capturing five state championships along the way. His coaching path has been one of growth, resilience, and continuous learning — lessons he readily passes on to his players.

Skill development and fundamentals are at the core of Frank’s coaching philosophy. He honed his craft working at TPH Hockey Academy under the mentorship of University of Michigan Head Coach Brandon Naurato and skill specialist Sean Perkins. He also served as Director of Player Development at Detroit Hockey Academy, learning under former NHL goaltender Manny Legace.

In 2017, Frank launched his own training brand, Furdero’s Elite Hockey Training (FEHT), which eventually evolved into a full-time hockey academy based in Plymouth, Michigan by 2020. Through FEHT, he’s trained top-tier talent including NHL star Alex DeBrincat, as well as a wide range of college, junior, OHL, and pro players.

Frank is known for creating a fun, energetic, and disciplined environment where players feel supported and challenged. His coaching style emphasizes skating, edge work, and building a strong love for the game. He believes in treating each athlete as an individual — recognizing their unique learning style and personality — while preparing them for the demands of the next level.

Now coaching on the Canadian side of the border in Windsor, Ontario, Frank is excited to continue his journey. With a deep appreciation for the families and players he’s worked with over the years, he brings unmatched passion, mentorship, and experience to every rink he steps into.
