On Friday night the Spitfires welcomed the Chatham Cyclones for the first of a 2 game home stand. The game started off with the Spitfires dragging their feet a little bit and it didn't take long before they found themselves down by a 3-1 margin at the end of the opening frame.

Mateo Nepszy was the only player able to find the back of the net for the home team, going to the net hard and banging in a loose puck.

From there it was all Spits....

Quickly the boys turned the tide in the second and started to pour it on. Matthew Mongeau lead the scoring parade by smartly banking the puck of the Chatham Goaltender from being the net for a power play tally. Following that up was Brendan Gouin sniping the first of his 2 beauties right under the crossbar.  Add in another goal from Matthew Mongeau on a tip in off of a bullet shot from Ethan Olafson and the Spits found themselves holding a 5-3 lead heading to the 3rd.

In the 3rd the boys went into lock down mode and continuously shut down the Cyclone attack with smart puck movement and heads up defensive zone play. Brody Gillis had a tremendous game on the back end winning some great one on one battles and making great first passes out of his zone.  As did Denzel Aguilar,  who was starting the breakout like a real pro! Seth Martineau was his usual dominant self on defense and proved to be too much for the Cyclones to handle. Mix in a highlight reel goal from Gavin Grundner and one from Nic Graniero and the Spits finish this one off by a score of 7-3.

Great job boys.  Next up. ...London
