February 5th was an exciting day for the 04’ Spits as the boys had a chance to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and host an exhibition contest with the Australian ’02 Select Team as they worked their way through Canada on route to the Quebec International Peewee Tournament.
The guests were treated like royalty as the host team did their best to help the Australian boys make Windsor their home away from home. The game featured some excellent back and forth action and it appeared that the Australian team wasn’t afraid to play some “Canadian style hockey” and by the looks on their faces before, during and after the game the visiting team had a fantastic time participating in this tune up game.
Some post-game activities were put together and it was quickly apparent that this Australian group carried themselves with much class and respect, as the two teams were able to mingle with each other. It was a great event altogether and one thing is certain…..I know our boys gained a whole new group of buddies from the other side of the world!!! Thank you to the Australian Team for allowing us this awesome opportunity!! Maybe we can head back over there for a home and home………???
